Tithe simply means tenth. That’s it. Ten percent. Nothing complicated. Yet the weight behind that word? Oh, it’s heavy with faith, trust, and a kind of freedom that money alone can’t buy.
Here’s the thing: testimonies don’t lie. Those who’ve walked this road will agree with me. I remember talking with my mother, who shared her own story—how she managed to pay school fees for my sisters and me, and even cover the full cost of my degree, all on a salary that wasn’t enough on paper. She taught me the significance of trusting God with my finances. She was the one who encouraged me to take that leap of faith.
I remember in 2021 when I landed a job that didn’t just bump my pay—it tripled it. Tripled. I was over the moon. This was the fruit of obedience, the kind of blessing that comes when you choose to trust God even when the math doesn’t make sense. I remember I felt the nudge to give a certain amount. And let me tell you, it wasn’t pocket change, it was a huge amount. You’d think I’d be twirling in the streets with joy, but honestly? I was skeptical it was a huge amount. My mind whispered, “Do you really want to give away a tenth of this? Isn’t that too much?” But the revelation was bigger. Deep down, I knew. I understood. And I chose to take the chance.
The Hard Truth About Financial Freedom
Let’s talk about the people who are truly financially free. Not those that obsess over every penny, building spreadsheets so tight they squeak, or relying on iron clad willpower to resist every latte. Nope. The ones that breathe easy with their money. These ones have figured out three powerful strategies:
- Remove willpower from the equation. Stop fighting yourself.
- Set up your finances to run on autopilot. Systems beat stress every time.
- Connect your everyday financial habits to your God‑given dream and purpose. When your money flows toward your calling, it stops feeling like a burden.
Where Tithing Began
Tithing didn’t start with church announcements or offering baskets like we see every Sunday. It started way back with Abraham before God even made His covenant with Israel. It carried through Numbers, Leviticus, and right into the words of Jesus, who said plainly in Luke 11:42 that we must not neglect the tithe.
Giving That Provokes Heaven
If you want the enviable hand of God on your life, let your giving provoke Him. I’ve cried to God over my finances. I’ve wrestled with doubt. But I’ve also trusted His call on my life as a kingdom financier. And every time I’ve obeyed, I’ve seen Him move.
Over the years of tithing, I’ve come to learn that every instruction God gives isn’t for His benefit—it’s for ours. Many give blindly, without revelation, and wonder why nothing shifts. But when you give with understanding, with revelation, by revelation that’s when power flows.
Why Finances Are Spiritual
Do you know what God can do through your finances? Your refusal to give is proof you don’t trust Him. Harsh? Maybe. True? Absolutely. We rise by sacrifice.
You can hustle, build businesses, stack degrees, and still feel broke. Because the devourer—the thief of peace and provision—shows up to snatch what you worked hard for. But when you tithe, you anchor your finances in God’s assistance.
It’s not about ritual, it’s about assurance.

Mama, I’m not here just to see you spiritually vibrant. My assignment is bigger. By the grace of God, I want to see you rise into a life of dignity—for His sake.
So fasten your safety belt and hear me out;
!n Ecclesiastes 10:15 — the “labour of the foolish” wearies them. Note foolish here isn’t a sarcastic jab or an insult. It’s a straight-up description of someone who’s missing the map or the know-how. The Bible calls this person “simple” or “foolish” because they don’t understand how to navigate the city, the system, the spiritual economy. They’re running in circles, exhausted, because they’re trying to build without a foundation.

now, how wealth works?
Wealth Begins in the Spirit
If you read my post on Kingdom Principles, you already know this: everything starts in the realm of the spirit. Even occultists and non‑Christians know there’s a spiritual dimension. They may not call it Kingdom, but they acknowledge it exists. It’s not just Christian talk. Think of it like planting a mango seed. You don’t just toss it on the ground and expect fruit. You dig, you cover, you water, you wait. The seed becomes a tree. The tree bears fruit. Wealth works the same way. It’s not just economics—it’s spiritual roots feeding economic fruit.
Most folks look at wealth purely economically and forget the spiritual side, forgetting that Man is a spirit living in a body. That’s why the rich fool in Luke 12 has no spiritual root — he’s all about the money, none about the Spirit. I have met people who are not Christian in any way, nor do they attend any kind of church, nor even believe in God, but they do believe in tithing, and they are exceptionally prosperous.
Spiritual Laws That Govern Wealth
Wealth isn’t just about stacking more cash or assets. Nah, it’s way deeper than that. it flows through spiritual laws. And one of those laws is absolute surrender. Not just tithing as a ritual, but tithing as surrender. Tithing is saying, “Lord, I trust You more than my paycheck. I trust You more than my plans. I trust You to multiply what I place in Your hands.”
Mama, when you tithe void of competition, void of ritual, And when you do? You’ll see the spiritual laws kick in. You’ll see God move over men, over opportunities, over doors you didn’t even know existed.
And let’s be clear, if you don’t give, God won’t hate you. He is love. But love doesn’t cancel consequences. Psalm 89:34 says His word can not be broken. His counsel is immutable. That means principles stand whether you like them or not.
So, what’s the secret? Adhering to the spiritual laws, adhering to absolute surrender. Tithing from a heart that wants to give, a heart that values giving. Giving with revelation and joy, not compulsion and that’s because God gave us free will to do so , and He respects our choices.
Giving Conquers Idols
Why does God tell us to give? To conquer idolatry — the worship of things. Anything you refuse to give is proof it has power over you.
Some of us pour everything into bills, cars, mortgages, kids but never into the kingdom. If all your giving stops there, you’ve missed the Kingdom. Giving is a Kingdom responsibility. when God blesses you—and He will—don’t give out of ritual.
Stop. Seek the revelation, understand it, then tithe with purpose.
So yes, sis, if you are not a giver, you will be poor. Literally, pin this somewhere you’ll see it every day.

So here’s my call to you, mama: when you show up to church — whether in the pew or online — don’t forget to live abundantly by trusting God with the first fruits of your labor. Don’t tithe because you’re scared. Don’t tithe because you’re pressured. Tithe because you’ve caught the revelation that giving is surrender, and surrender is freedom.
